The silent killer

Inflammation is the root of all disease. It is the body’s natural defense against infection. Asthma, arthritis, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, Alzheimer’s, cancer, heart disease and Parkinson’s disease may all be caused by chronic inflammation in the body.

Arthritis is caused by inflammation of the joints. Heart disease is caused by inflammation of the arteries. Instead of taking a pill to reduce the pain caused by inflammation, how about we stop inflammation from occurring in the first place?

Turmeric has been used in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicines for centuries for its natural healing powers. It’s antioxidant strength is one of the highest among known herb and spices, which work together with the dietary fiber it contains to control cholesterol levels and protect against heart disease and stroke. It is currently being researched for its anti-cancer and Alzheimer’s prevention abilities.

Curcumin is the primary active ingredient that has been praised for its amazing anti-inflammatory abilities, which inhibit the growth of tumor cells. Not only is curcumin used in India for its medicinal properties, but it is also used for anti-aging due to its ability to slow down cellular aging by preventing free radicals that cause DNA damage.

Black pepper significantly increases the bioavailability of curcumin (some research shows up to 2000%), making it easier to absorb in the body. So be sure to combine the two to maximize its benefits.

Turmeric is also a good source for vitamin C which the body needs to boost immunity and fight off infectious diseases, as well as a good source for iron. Just a few grams of turmeric a day provides you with enough nutrients to prevent or delay Alzheimer’s, anemia, high blood pressure, stroke, and cancer.

There are turmeric and curcumin supplements on the market, however these are poorly absorbed by the body. Turmeric root or powder is the best way to consume this natural healing herb. Use it in cooking or throw it in your smoothies!
